Montclair 'Bark for Life' to raise cancer funds

MONTCLAIR - The Chino Basin Water Conservation District will partner with the American Cancer Society's Montclair Relay for Life team to host a "Bark for Life" event at CBWCD's facility on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The goal of this event is to educate people about cancer while having fun and getting healthy walking their dogs in CBWCD's dog-friendly park.

There will be a raffle and humorous contests including Sloppiest Water Drinker; Best Pooch Smooch; Best Costume; Biggest Dog; Smallest Dog; and, So Ugly I'm Cute.

Registration is $20 for the first dog and $10 for each additional dog with all funds generated supporting cancer research. Owners are given a Bark for Life doggie scarf and raffle ticket for each dog registered.

Montclair firefighters open house Saturday

MONTCLAIR - The Fire Department will hold a open house Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Station 1, 8901 Monte Vista Ave.

The event will begin with a pancake breakfast by the Montclair Firefighters Association, costing $3, from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

In addition there will be equipment displays, search and rescue exhibits, station tours, an auto extrication demonstration and fire presentation displays and videos.

Montclair Health Fair set on Tuesday

MONTCLAIR - The annual Montclair Community Health Fair will be held on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Montclair Community Center, 5111 Benito St.

The fair will offer free health screenings for blood pressure, vision, hearing, dental and glucose in addition to structural exams. Complimentary flu shots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Shots are only available for those 18 and older.

More than 35 health-related and social service agencies will also be at the fair to distribute educational material and answer questions about various programs.

The event is sponsored by Chino Valley Medical Center, Montclair Human Services Division, Montclair Hospital Medical Center and the Montclair-Ontario Junior Women's Club.

Montclair Day at the L.A. County Fair

All Montclair residents are invited to join City personnel at the L.A. County Fair on Wednesday, September 26 for Montclair Day at the Fair. Special events include a parade, recognition of the Montclair Community Heroes and evening entertainment.

The Montclair Golden Express will be providing a FREE shuttle service for those 18 and older to the Fair on Wednesday, September 26 for “Montclair Day”. Make your reservation for the shuttle service by calling 625-9456.

Special coupons, good for $5 admission to the Fair on Montclair Day if purchased in advance online, are available at the Recreation Facility, Senior Center and City Hall.
